Licensing Software using LM Agent & LearnMate Curriculum

Licensing Software using LM Agent & LearnMate Curriculum

This article is for those teachers and learners who have access to LearnMate curriculum that utilizes Intelitek software, such as easyC v5/v6, RoboCell, CNCMotion, etc. If you are unsure if your content requires software, please review the "Course Materials" resource that is commonly found at the top of the course within LearnMate. All Intelitek software is available at https://downloads.intelitek.com/downloads.php
Your computer MUST have the appropriate software installed in compatible Windows environment to follow most of the instructions found in this article. If the software needs to be installed, please follow any local school policies regarding installation, generally done by your IT/Tech Department. Intelitek cannot install this software for you, installation must be performed by your school's responsible department to account for safety and security concerns.

How LearnMate Agent Works

With an ongoing LearnMate subscription to the various content Intelitek has to offer, your access includes temporary software licenses granted through the relevant content.
The software must be launched and licensed from the content, unless your school also purchased a stand-alone license, which would have been delivered with LearnMate.

If you are launching the software from the desktop or start menu without a stand-alone license, then seeing an Expired license status is normal and expected.

On any current Windows OS where you can access LearnMate, you can install LearnMate Agent (LM Agent or LMA) and the relevant software, and going through the steps outlined below, launch and license the software for several hours.

If the license expires while completing a lab or task and you need more time, you can repeat the same steps, be granted another temporary license, and continue using the software as long as needed.
The license affects all users who sign into the computer, even after a restart of the computer for any reason.

Launching and Licensing software from your course

If using a school computer, we highly recommend going through this process to confirm success while your IT department is available, should any changes to the computer be necessary.
With relevant Intelitek software and LM Agent installed, you can license and launch the software from within the appropriate course at any time.
  1. Login to your school's LearnMate site.

  2. On your Dashboard, click the tile for your course. We're using CNC Milling and CNCMotion in this example, but the course you access will be dependent on the software you are trying to launch
    1. If you don't see the course you are looking for, please speak with your instructor.

  3. Once in the course:
    1. Click any Activity from 2 and up.
    2. Click Start Activity

  4. On almost all pages in an Activity, you can use the "Launch" icon to download an .lma (LM Agent) file that will, when opened, launch and temporarily license CNCMotion or RoboCell for several hours of use.
For example, in the CNC Milling course, this icon is found in the top left corner under the home icon and in a Robotics course, this icon is found in the top right corner under the Glossary and Index.
The icon may not always be found in the same location in a course, but it should be in one of the top corners.

  5. When the icon is clicked, your browser will download a .lma file named to your browser's configured download folder.
    1. You may be prompted to Save the file yourself, so choose an easily accessible folder on your computer, such as Downloads or Desktop.

  6. Open the file, either through your browser or by opening the save folder and double clicking the file.

  7. At this point, LM Agent will read the file in the background, launch and temporarily license the Intelitek software for several hours!
    1. If you encounter any issues with this process, please refer to our help article to check and fix file associations in Windows. (This may require administrator rights, so please follow your schools' IT policy if using school a computer.)

  8. This .lma license file will expire after several hours, and so you will need to repeat the steps in this section to download another copy of the file in order to license the software again.
    1. If you find yourself with many copies of the file, you'll want to delete them at your convenience. They do expire after several hours, so there's no need to hold onto them.
